Memorandum for Captain Hood, H.M. Ship Zealous

Vanguard, 18th August, 1798.

If the Lion comes, to send Goliath direct to Naples. If Thalia, and Captain Hope does not take her, to be sent direct to Naples. If Terpsichore arrives, to send either Alcmene or Emerald direct to Naples. Not to keep more than five Sail after the 2nd September. To send one or two Ships before Captain Hope leaves the Station, unless Captain Hood means to leave the Lion and one or two Frigates after the 30th of September. To inquire at Syracuse for orders in their way to Naples, unless under very particular circumstances which may materially delay the passage.
