17th August 1798
To Captain Hood, Zealous
Vanguard, August 17th, 1798.
Sir,
Should any Frigates or Dispatch-boats arrive off Alexandria in search of me, you will instantly direct them to proceed, without a moment’s loss of time, to Naples, where they will be sure to find or hear of me. Captain Hope being appointed to the Thalia, should he not go into her, you will send her to join me at Naples; but should he take command of her, in that case you will keep Thalia with you, and send Alcemene, under Lieutenant Newhouse, to join me at Naples.
I am, &c.
HORATIO NELSON
