Nelson writing his letters (AI Generated)

To Captain Sir James Saumarez, of H.M. Ship Orion,

Vanguard, Mouth of the Nile, 12th August, 1798

You are hereby required and directed to take the Ships named in the margin* under your command, their captains having my orders for that purpose, and proceed with them, with all possible dispatch, down the Mediterranean. On your arrival near Europa Point, you will send a Boat on shore to the Commissioner's Office, to receive any orders which may be lodged there for your farther proceedings. Ian case you find no orders at Gibraltar, and learn that the Commander-In-Chief is off Cadiz or Lisbon, you will join him at either place, with all possible expedition.

To the Right Honorable Sir William Hammilton, K.B.

August 12th, 1798

My dear sir,

As the greatest part of this squadron is going down the Mediterranean, we shall not want the quantity of wine or bread ordered; therefore, what is not already prepared, had better be put a stop to. I will settle all matters, if ever I live to see Naples.

I have the satisfaction to tell you, the French Army have got a complaint amongst them caused by the heat, and nothing but water which will make Egypt the grave of the greatest part.

Ever yours faithfully,

Horatio Nelson

To Captain Miller, H.M. Ship Theseus

Sunday Morning, August 12th, 1798

Mr dear Sir,

You was so good as to promise to change six men from the Mutine; pray do it, and you will very much oblige me;Hardy will point to the persons to be sent out of the Brig. With the lark, on Tuesday, all you which are ready are to sail. Hoste* must come to me, chest and bedding, to-morrow.

Ever yours faithfully

Horatio Nelson

*Afterwards Captain Sir William Hoste, Bart., K.C.B
