10th August 1798
To Admiral The Earl of St. Vincent, K.B.
August 10, 1798
I send Sir James Saumarez with the Ships and Prizes named in the margin, the others not being yet ready. Although I keep on, yet I feel that I must soon leave my situation up the Mediterranean to Troubridge; than whom, we both know no person is more equal to the task. I should have sunk under the fatigue of refitting the quadron, but for him,Ball,Hood and Hallowell: not but that all have donewell, but thoseare my supporters.
My head is ready to split, and I am always so sick: in short, if there be no fracture, my head is severely shaken. I shall remain off this Coast as long as circumstances will allow me, and will endeavor to annoy the Enemy to the utmost of my power. God bless you.
Horatio Nelson
